About Assen
Assen is a vibrant city in the heart of Drenthe and offers plenty of opportunities for a fun day out. Whether you like culture, shopping, sports or nature, in Assen there is something for everyone. One of Assen's most famous attractions is the TT Circuit, where the MotoGP and the Dutch TT are held every year. But the circuit is also worth a visit outside race weekends.
Assen also has plenty to offer culture lovers. The Drents Museum, for instance, is highly recommended. Here you can visit exhibitions on archaeology, art and cultural history. In addition, the monumental building is a sight in itself. For those who enjoy a day of shopping, Assen is also a good choice. In the city centre, you will find plenty of nice boutiques and shops of well-known chains. But you can also shop to your heart's content at Koopmansplein, Assen's largest indoor shopping centre.
Very suitable for (small) children
Beautifully maintained campsite, quiet and very suitable for (small) children. Sanitary facilities are kept very clean. Many playgrounds and on the tent site a great playground including a small 'river' for water fun. The tent site is right next to the woods and Drouwenerzand.

Plenty to do for families with small children
Camping de Berken is a friendly quiet campsite, suitable for older people but also for families with small children.
There is plenty to do. Places with private sanitary facilities and places with playgrounds for the little ones it is clean and a nice walking environment. Great campsite.

Beautiful, quiet campsite
If you are looking for a beautiful, quiet campsite with many possibilities visit Camping De Berken. The campsite has beautiful pitches with privacy. We had a pitch with private sanitary facilities which look neat. A few steps and you are in the beautiful countryside of Drenthe and you can walk for miles from the campsite. Cycling from this campsite is also wonderful. Both on touring bikes and mountain bikes. But if you want to relax by your tent or caravan, you can sit quietly at your pitch. Staff are also very helpful and friendly. The laundry room looks neat but also the living room where there are several books you can read looks neat. Unfortunately we could only stay for a long weekend, we were not free for any longer, but we will definitely come back.

Fantastic and highly recommended
Fantastic and highly recommended. This was our first visit to this campsite. It is a particularly beautiful campsite, centrally located on the Hondsrug in Drenthe. Very nice and friendly staff and lots of cycling and walking opportunities. We had a pitch (at the edge of the woods) with private sanitary facilities and we really liked it. Highly recommended.
