Camping de Berken is a small-scale nature campsite near Drouwenerzand in Drenthe. Besides a beautiful nature area, the amusement park of the same name is also close to our campsite. Wondering what there is to do in the Drouwenerzand area? Then read on quickly.

Drouwenerzand nature reserve

Relax in the beautiful surroundings of the Drouwenerzand nature reserve. There are various walking routes that take you through the woods, heathland and shifting sands. From Camping de Berken is a lovely 4.5 km walking route, which starts from the campsite's first toilet block. A walk across the Drouwenerzand is also highly recommended. Besides the beautiful nature, you can spot the characteristic juniper berries and all kinds of different animals here, such as moorland sheep, roe deer and various birds.

Other walking areas

Besides Drouwenerzand, there are more beautiful nature areas around our campsite, such as the National Park the Drentsche Aa. And through the Staatsbossen you can walk routes ranging from 3 to 16.5 km. Each route takes you past the beautiful nature of Drenthe. And don't forget Geopark de Hondsrug, which is even on UNESCO's World Heritage List!

Drouwenerzand amusement park

Besides the nature reserve, you can also visit Drouwenerzand amusement park, which is only 700 metres from our campsite! This amusement park is the most popular day out among children. The price of this amusement park includes entertainment, food and drinks.

Other attractions

Besides amusement park Drouwenerzand, there are more great day attractions around our campsite. See wild animals at WILDLANDS or have plenty of water fun at DX Adventure Park. A visit to the Sprookjeshof or the Boomkroonpad is also highly recommended. But there are many more day attractions around Camping de Berken.

Places around Drouwenerzand

Besides beautiful nature and fun day attractions, you can also visit the towns around Drouwenerzand. For example, pay a visit to Borger or Gasselte. Camping de Berken is located in the Drenthe village of Gasselte, where you can still enjoy old-fashioned hospitality. But the village of Borger is also nearby. Borger is the dolmen capital of the Netherlands. No fewer than sixteen of the 52 Drenthe dolmens can be found in the immediate vicinity. The largest specimen can also be found in Borger. In the centre of Borger you will also find many cosy shops and outdoor cafés.
